We already published the list of best PS Vita games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best PS Vita beat ’em up games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the PS Vita definitely has a great library of beat ’em up games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the PS Vita and beat ’em up games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Boss!
- Release Data: Fair Play Labs, 2014
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
It would’ve been nicer if they injected Boss! with better gameplay.
Cute costumes and a funny premise can take you surprisingly far, but at the end of the day you still need something more than a repetitive beat-’em-up.
Boss! tries its best, but unless you like dressing up monsters in seasonally-appropriate attire, you’ll probably find it to be a little lacking.
#9. MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies
- Release Data: Compile Heart/Idea Factory, 2016
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies works because, like the other Hyperdimension Neptunia spin-offs, it takes the series’ formula and applies it to something new.
Rather than trying to have it both ways, by simultaneously mocking and embracing JRPG stereotypes, MegaTagmension follows in the footsteps of games like Action Unleashed and Producing Perfection by expanding its horizons.
#8. Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition
- Release Data: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo Games, 2014
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
If you’ve been eager to swing your blade on the move, you can’t go wrong with Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition.
Its conquest of Sony’s portable device hasn’t been entirely smooth but the sheer amount of content on offer makes up for its technical shortcomings.
Simply put, playing a hack ‘n slash game has never been easier.
#7. Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni
- Release Data: Marvelous Inc./PQube, 2016
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
As with a lot of Japanese games the story plays a very important role with equal time being devoted to this and the fighting.
If you enjoy a bit of fan service and lots of anime girls then you’ll love this.
However if you prefer a straight up brawler then you may be left slightly disappointed.
#6. Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires
- Release Data: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo Games, 2015
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Aside from its necessary graphical shortcomings, Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is a sublime fit on the Vita.
Its methodical structure is a perfect match for portable play, allowing you to jump in and make some progress no matter how much time you decide to dedicate to the cause.
Conquering China piece by piece has never been quite so addictive.
#5. Dynasty Warriors Next
- Release Data: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo Games, 2012
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
While the core hack-and-slash combat is present and further refined, Dynasty Warriors Next creatively takes hold of Vita’s multiple control interfaces and creates an exciting, console-quality Warriors title that’s perfectly fitting for the handheld.
For purists, newbies or even those just looking to try a Warriors title again, Next is definitely worthy of being the next game for your Vita.
#4. Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds
- Release Data: Division2/5pb, 2014
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a fun, fast paced brawler, with a strong retro presentation that runs out of steam all too quickly.
Repetitiveness almost over shadows everything that it does well, and the multiplayer modes certainly don’t help either.
That said, if you’re up for an old school beat-‘em-up with some modern additions then this title is still worth trying.
#3. Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed
- Release Data: Tamsoft/Idea Factory, 2015
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Hyperdimension Neptunia U shows that it’s possible to turn a blind eye to certain issues when everything else is just so much fun.
It also shows that there’s a whole lot of promise in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series just so long as its developers are willing and able to break out of their boxes a little and try something new.
#2. Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3
- Release Data: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo Games, 2015
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 is a solid handheld Warriors title that’s let down by a couple of questionable design choices, namely the tedious bonds system, and the initially overwhelming battle objectives.
However, the personal touch of following the grand tale of Japan’s unification is something that fans will adore, while the combat is an enjoyable core of the experience.
#1. Draw Slasher
- Release Data: Mass Creation, 2013
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
Overall, Draw Slasher possesses a lot of character, charm and humor that makes it a very fun and enjoyable game to play with quality visuals and ample replayability.
If you are a fan of side scrolling, hack and slash games, then Draw Slasher is very easy to recommend as you will receive a challenging, yet rewarding experience.

Deciding which PS Vita beat ’em up game is the best is no doubt a never ending topic, but it’s fun to do!
