So, if you’re a fan of both the Xbox One and 3D adventure games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#25. Soul Axiom
- Release Data: Wales Interactive Ltd., 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Soul Axiom explores an unconventional concept compared with most games, and the puzzles are challenging and vary in design.
The story is unique but it can be difficult to follow at first as you will become confused by the unusual cutscenes that play at the end of each level.
However, if you persevere, it is definitely a rewarding experience.
#24. The Bradwell Conspiracy
- Release Data: Bossa Studios/A Brave Plan, 2019
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
While the ending is a little too cut-and-dry and the production is a little rough around the edges, on the whole it is quite an enjoyable adventure that should particularly appeal to those who want that co-op multiplayer experience but find it hard to coordinate play sessions with someone else.
#23. Slender: The Arrival
- Release Data: Blue Isle Studios, 2015
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
While a little rough around the edges, Slender: The Arrival is fascinating because it plays on modern fears through a modern medium.
For that, it has managed to breathe new life into a genre once thought dead.
Slender is not an experience you will soon forget, but just be sure to play at night with headphones for full effect.
#22. Magnetic: Cage Closed
- Release Data: Guru Games/Gambitious, 2015
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Magnetic: Cage Closed isn’t an amazing game but it isn’t terrible either.
It’s a decent puzzle 3D adventure game which fans of the genre should enjoy and is a good puzzle 3D adventure game for the Xbox One.
If you love these types of games, go for it.
#21. N.E.R.O.: Nothing Ever Remains Obscure
- Release Data: Storm in a Teacup, 2015
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
N.E.R.O. contains puzzles to solve and focuses on exploration rather than combat, so in that sense, the game has more in common with an adventure game than it does an action game.
Furthermore, every step of your journey is signposted by big, glowing letters, resulting in an experience that lets you traverse through a somewhat interesting world.
#20. Perception
- Release Data: The Deep End Games, 2017
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Perception tells an intriguing story and if that’s enough for you, it’s worth playing.
Its audio-visual experience is also unlike anything else and if you’re looking for a fresh idea, this title is worth experiencing.
It’s important to keep in mind, however, if you expect the game to also scare you, there’s nothing to see here.
#19. The Town of Light
- Release Data: LKA/Wired Productions, 2017
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
While the game has its share of problems, the story, voice acting and cutscene presentation are quite good and make the game interesting enough for a player that just wants to enjoy a good psychological story.
The Town of Light definitely has an interesting story to tell and one that will stick with you after it’s over.
#18. The Station
- Release Data: The Station, 2018
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
The Station features a colorful and vibrant type of art direction that makes the environment feel incredibly science fiction.
The visuals look clean and crisp, and the detailed sound effects that you can hear while doing things in the game world are much appreciated details that add to the immersion.
Overall, The Station looks great and plays well.
#17. Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations
- Release Data: Vicious Cycle/Little Orbit, 2015
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
If you’re not a fan of the series, then you may not get all the references and humor.
Some of the story assumes a prior knowledge of the characters and there are many references to events in particular episodes.
Be prepared to have a few jokes fly over your head if you’ve not seen much of the show.
#16. Nevermind
- Release Data: Flying Mollusk, 2017
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
What Nevermind excels in is immersing you into a world that seems like only someone tripping on bad drugs could come up with, which is a great setting for the subconscious mind.
The individual stories are meaningful and deal with very touchy and sensitive issues, so those that are very emotional about certain topics might want to pay attention.
#15. Pneuma: Breath of Life
- Release Data: Deco Digital, 2015
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
If puzzle adventures are your thing and you don’t mind linear progression, there’s a lot to like here.
From clever challenges to sleek visuals, playful humor to a stimulating theme, as long as you can stomach the thought of your hand not being held, it’s a pretty entertaining ride from start to finish.
#14. The Walking Dead: Michonne – Episode 1: In Too Deep
- Release Data: Skybound Games/Telltale Games, 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
The Walking Dead: Michonne – Episode 1: In Too Deep is easily one of the shortest episodes to be released and won’t take long to complete.
Don’t expect something quite as major as the previous Telltale titles, but if you come in with expectations of a peek into the life of someone new, you will be satisfied with what you get.
#13. The Occupation
- Release Data: White Paper Games/Humble Bundle, 2019
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Fundamentally, there’s nothing wrong with The Occupation‘s gameplay, core ideas and narrative; it’s a lack of polish and attention to detail that hold it back from achieving greatness.
Persevere, however, and The Occupation will reward you with a murderous story overflowing with political intrigue, governmental conspiracy, and sharp social commentary.
#12. Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders
- Release Data: Microids, 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
If you’re a fan of Agatha Christie, murder mysteries, point and clicks, or adventure games and want a fun little gem that will provide a day’s worth of amusement without trespassing into darker territory, then Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders will definitely delight you.
#11. Conarium
- Release Data: Zoetrope Interactive/Iceberg Interactive, 2019
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
A single playthrough of Conarium will take just under five hours unless you find yourself well and truly stuck on one of the game’s many puzzles.
It’s certainly not the ideal game for those expecting sweat-inducing horror or adrenaline-pumping action, but for those who like to explore eerie environments and unravel a good story, there’s a good entertainment here.
#10. Dear Esther: Landmark Edition
- Release Data: The Chinese Room/Curve Digital, 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is by no means going to be for everyone, but it’s a game highly recommended to people to try out even if they’re new to the narrative genre.
If you’re looking for a game that could be considered art just as much as it could be a video game then this is certainly up your alley.
#9. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Episode 1: Tangled Up in Blue
- Release Data: Telltale Games, 2017
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
You won’t find a tremendous amount of gameplay in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series.
And like most Telltale games, it’s more of an interactive movie than a traditional game.
But that interactive movie is one that Guardians fans should love, at least during this first episode.
#8. State of Mind
- Release Data: Daedalic Entertainment, 2018
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
If you’re a fan of science fiction stories, such as the Deus Ex games, you’ll most likely find something to like in State of Mind.
It’s got some nice twists and surprises once it starts moving along at a good pace.
In the end, this is definitely a game for those that relish single-player experiences.
#7. Sea of Solitude
- Release Data: Jo-Mei Games/Electronic Arts, 2019
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
Sea of Solitude offers a surprisingly deep adventure that not only plays with perception, but inadvertently encourages you to look inside yourself.
And for those of you who enjoy games with meaning, abstraction, or unique artistic beauty that so often blossoms in indie games, then Sea of Solitude is worth trying.
#6. Virginia
- Release Data: 505 Games, 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Some technical niggles aside, Virginia is a fantastic piece of interactive fiction, and a fantastic video game.
It’s rare to see a game that truly innovates on the way a story can be told through this medium, and to have something that doesn’t only push those boundaries but does so this effectively is a real treat.
#5. Layers of Fear
- Release Data: Bloober Team/Aspyr, 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
While the game is only at its full potential on your first playthrough, the extra secrets and collectibles help to add replayability to what may have originally been thought of as a “single play only” title.
And if you’re after an enthralling experience, horror fan or not, Layers of Fear is a great way to satisfy the itch.
#4. RiME
- Release Data: Tequila Works/Maximum Games, 2017
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
RiME is a solid adventure game that is an absolute stunner in the presentation department.
The puzzles may not be that difficult, and they start to repeat later in the game, but they remain enjoyable.
It may not have the kind of grand mystery that keeps players coming back, but RiME is certainly a game that’s worth playing at least once.
#3. Firewatch
- Release Data: Campo Santo/Panic Inc., 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Overall, what we have here in Firewatch is an immersive, and at times eerie, experience.
It is the video game equivalent of reading a mystery, suspense, or thriller novel—one that you won’t wish to put down until you reach its conclusion.
#2. The Witness
- Release Data: Thekla, Inc, 2016
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
What truly makes The Witness everything that it is lies somewhere between the fundamentals of the puzzles and the deeply philosophical of everything else.
These two work in tandem, complementing each other even when they seem worlds apart.
And not only it presents a beautiful, fascinating world to explore, but it also gives players great gameplay opportunities.
#1. What Remains of Edith Finch
- Release Data: Giant Sparrow/Annapurna Interactive, 2017
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
This game tells a wonderfully riveting story about the Finch family, all through the eyes of their daughter Edith.
And by exploring the house and searching the rooms, you’ll play small scenes from the perspective of each family member.
Simply put, it’s incredibly unique and interesting from a gameplay perspective, and the story it tells is both devastatingly emotional and surprising.
