Best Wii Sim Racing Games of All Time

We already published the list of best Wii games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best Wii sim racing games of all time.

With amazing titles available, the Wii definitely has a great library of sim racing games.

So, if you’re a fan of both the Wii and sim racing games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.

And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.

#10. Indianapolis 500 Legends

Indianapolis 500 Legends
  • Release Data: Torus Games/Destineer, 2007
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

In many ways, Indianapolis 500 Legends is more an interactive history lesson than a proper racing game.

By limiting you to certain drivers and certain years, players gain a deep historical knowledge of certain races at the expense of all the others.

#9. DiRT 2

  • Release Data: Codemasters, 2009
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

The game creates a great sense of speed, auto-saves after each race, offers a good challenge starting in the third set of races, and in a lot of ways walks the line between sims and arcade racers perfectly.

There are some great course designs, and there’s definitely fun to be had racing on them.

#8. Need for Speed Undercover

Need for Speed Undercover
  • Release Data: Exient Entertainment/Electronic Arts, 2008
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

When compared to other racing games available in the highly competitive genre, Need For Speed Undercover is way off the pace.

The Wii version has a lack-luster presentation with tired graphics that really doesn’t do the console justice.

Whilst the controls, sound and handling are good its ultimately let down by the numerous other problems.

#7. Monster 4X4: World Circuit

Monster 4X4: World Circuit
  • Release Data: Ubisoft, 2006
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

Monster 4X4 isn’t long or deep enough to be a must-own, but racing fans will derive a day or two’s worth of pleasure.

The courses are short and usually sweet, and the controls are intuitive without being overly sensitive, paving the way for Wii newbies who might not be used to the console’s motion controls.

#6. Need for Speed ProStreet

  • Release Data: EA Games, 2007
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

One can safely assume that petrol-heads accustomed on the original NFS have most likely progressed to Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport and Project Gotham Racing.

The Wii lacks a pure racing game in the same vein as these genre classics, and while ProStreet can’t hope to compete, it’s an acceptable substitute until a true racing savior appears on Nintendo’s machine.

#5. Need for Speed Carbon

  • Release Data: EA Canada/EA Games, 2006
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

Need for Speed Carbon for the Wii falls a bit flat in certain areas but it’s a good attempt at bringing us a fresh new twist to this underground racing series.

While it doesn’t surpass Most Wanted, the series still has some challenging races.

Those who are looking for an innovative racing game with the Wii remote will not be disappointed.

#4. Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli
  • Release Data: Eutechnyx/System 3, 2008
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

Ferrari Challenge does a handful of things right, especially the core racing engine, but the experience isn’t nearly as robust as it could be.

If you’re a hardcore Ferrari fan, it may be worth checking out, but only do so if you’re looking for the driving experience and not the bells and whistles that you’ll find in other racers.

#3. F1 2009

F1 2009
  • Release Data: Sumo Digital/Codemasters, 2009
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

If you’re looking for an arcade-style racer with a Formula 1 badge, then F1 2009 may fit the bill and is likely to keep you busy for quite some time.

Unfortunately, if you’re looking for a game that captures the essence and challenge of the pinnacle of motorsport, you’re going to be disappointed.

#2. MX vs. ATV Untamed

MX vs. ATV Untamed
  • Release Data: Rainbow Studios/THQ, 2008
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

Despite some of its small shortcomings, Untamed is a fairly enjoyable experience.

With all of the options you are given for controls, races, vehicles, and modes, this is definitely a title that isn’t short on gameplay and replayability.

Overall, MX vs. ATV Untamed is one of the best off-road racing games on the Wii and is well worth playing.

#1. Need for Speed: Nitro

Need for Speed: Nitro
  • Release Data: EA Montreal/EA Games, 2009
  • Genre: Racing » Simulation » Automobile

Need for Speed: Nitro is a good-looking game that boasts a dizzying sense of speed at all the right moments.

You’re provided with plenty of opportunities to leave your mark on the tracks with a good dose of interesting gameplay that is, for the most part, a lot of fun.

About

Hi, I'm R, and I've been playing video games since I was a kid. My first console was the original PlayStation (the gray one) and I spent countless hours playing Crash Bandicoot series and Spyro series. My second console was the PS2 Fat, and I completed all of the GTA series 100%.
