We already published the list of best Wii games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best Wii beat ’em up games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the Wii definitely has a great library of beat ’em up games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the Wii and beat ’em up games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
- Release Data: High Voltage Software/Midway, 2006
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is easy to pick up and play, regardless of your familiarity with the license.
It’s a very basic brawler that does nothing to tamper with a proven formula, but it’s still better than the average game based on a cartoon license.
#9. TMNT
- Release Data: Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft, 2007
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
Between the overly simplistic combat and sometimes-obnoxious platforming sequences, TMNT is like a man without a country.
Younger audiences are likely to balk at some of the more frustrating elements of the platforming, and older players are going to be bored to tears by the effortless fighting mechanics.
#8. Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes
- Release Data: Capcom, 2010
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
If you love hack & slash games and don’t mind repeating the same objective over and over again, this might be worth a quick session to kill a few hours but it is not recommended to anyone who’s on the fence.
#7. Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo
- Release Data: Media Vision/Namco Bandai Games, 2009
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
Revenge of King Piccolo is a title worth trying out, especially if you are a Dragon Ball fan that wants to take a break from the Dragon Ball Z games.
The combination of classic genres make for a title that is balanced, engaging, and loyal to the franchise.
Once more, if you are a fan, don’t hesitate to try this one.
#6. Spyborgs
- Release Data: Bionic Games/Capcom, 2009
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
Overall, Spyborgs is a good game.
It’s not terrible, it’s not great, and it doesn’t in any way stand out.
If you’re not into side-scrolling brawlers, there is nothing in Spyborgs to change your mind, but if you want some old-school spice, this is worth checking out.
#5. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
- Release Data: Beenox/Activision, 2010
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
While there are some things lacking about the game, Shattered Dimensions is a very fun, worthwhile Spider-Man game that genuinely feels different and engaging.
Fans should definitely look into picking up the title, but because of the failings of the Wii version’s combat, you might want to look into getting the Xbox 360 or PS3 version if you can.
#4. Rage of the Gladiator
- Release Data: Ghostfire Games, 2010
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
If you’ve ever played the Nintendo classic Punch-Out!, then this boss-battle heavy fighting game will feel very familiar.
Each battle is a fight against a boss character, where you must attack, dodge, and block at the right time.
After beating the ten opponents for the first time, you’ll unlock Challenge Mode, where you must fight each foe again.
#3. No More Heroes
- Release Data: Grasshopper Manufacture/Ubisoft, 2008
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Mixing stylized graphics with unique combat, No More Heroes is one of the Wii’s more mature games.
Throughout the game, you must defeat the top ten assassins, completing various side activities to earn cash along the way.
The anime-inspired visuals are a great match-up with the quick-paced action, resulting in a visually explosive and adrenaline-pumping good time.
#2. MadWorld
- Release Data: PlatinumGames/Sega, 2009
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Playing as chainsaw-wielding contestant Jack, it’s your job to paint the streets of Varrigan City red.
As you progress through the game’s linear levels, you’ll dismember, decapitate, and destroy other contestants in DeathWatch.
The game features fun and exciting combat, including a few segments where you control a beastly motorcycle.
#1. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
- Release Data: Grasshopper Manufacture/Ubisoft, 2010
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Like the first game, No More Heroes 2 revolves around Travis Touchdown’s attempts to take down various assassins and claim his spot as the best.
This sequel contains more action, better mini-games, and a faster pace than the original.
The highly stylized graphics play well with the anime-inspired storytelling, making this a funny and violent adventure.
