We already published the list of best 3DS games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best 3DS beat ’em up games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the 3DS definitely has a great library of beat ’em up games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the 3DS and beat ’em up games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Pokemon Rumble World
- Release Data: Ambrella/Nintendo, 2015
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Pokémon Rumble World takes the basic beatdown gameplay the spin-off series is known for and combines it with fun connectivity features that give it a uniquely social feel.
It’s not a particularly deep experience, but the blend of button mashing and creature collecting makes for satisfyingly straightforward fun.
#9. Samurai Warriors Chronicles
- Release Data: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo Games, 2011
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Samurai Warriors Chronicles is a pretty decent game conceptually: its missions have multiple objectives, there are four characters for you to manage at once and each has his or her own specific attack combos and powers.
Sadly though, you can do pretty well in the game by simply running around and mashing the attack button at anything that moves.
#8. Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3
- Release Data: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo Games, 2015
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
The combat is as solid as ever, and fans will appreciate the effort and attention that’s been put into the personalized story mode.
With an addictive character progression system and a huge roster of fighters, Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 provides plenty of bang for your buck.
#7. Senran Kagura Burst
- Release Data: Tamsoft/Marvelous AQL, 2013
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
Senran Kagura certainly has its issues but it delivers an intoxicating blend of quick, combo-heavy combat that’s an absolute blast to play.
More than just the world’s most effective PSA for battle armor, Senran Kagura Burst is a lovely, lighthearted brawler that’s well worth a round.
#6. Yo-kai Watch Blasters: White Dog Squad
- Release Data: Level 5, 2018
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
While its rinse and repeat Diablo-lite gameplay can get a little repetitive after extended play, there’s no denying how much fun it is to return to the world of Yo-kai Watch.
This is the proof that the Yo-Kai series is strong enough to tweak its formula with a spin-off and still maintain that quintessential Japanese magic.
#5. River City: Rival Showdown
- Release Data: Aplus/Arc System Works, 2017
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
All in all, River City: Rival Showdown is a worthwhile beat ’em up game.
Though the oscillating difficulty curve hold it back from true greatness, this is a game that no beat ’em up fans will want to miss out on, and it also stands as a great entry point for those looking to try out the genre.
#4. Yo-kai Watch Blasters: Red Cat Corps
- Release Data: Level 5, 2018
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
Overall, the game is fantastic.
It’s fun for solo play and is even better when working in co-op. There’s so much replayability and it’ll have you craving for more Yo-kai madness.
In the end, the game is definitely fantastic and it’s highly recommended to be added to your 3DS’s library.
#3. River City: Tokyo Rumble
- Release Data: Aplus/Arc System Works, 2016
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
River City: Tokyo Rumble is the epitome of a ‘safe’ game.
While the core mechanics of the gameplay are solid and the graphics are unintrusive, there’s little here that stands out as being particularly exceptional.
But, overall, River City: Tokyo Rumble is recommended, but only to fans of the genre or franchise that are looking to get a nostalgic fix.
#2. Hyrule Warriors Legends
- Release Data: Omega Force/Nintendo, 2016
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 3D
If you’re totally new to the game and don’t mind rough graphics, then the 3DS edition could be considered your best bet since the bonus content makes this feel like a more “complete” package.
There are still some issues to deal with, but Hyrule Warriors Legends remains a solid and enjoyable spin-off from one of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises.
#1. 3D Streets of Rage II
- Release Data: M2/Sega, 2015
- Genre: Action » Beat-‘Em-Up » 2D
In conclusion, 3D Streets of Rage 2 is a masterclass in its genre.
In its day it was one of the most accomplished and fully featured beat-’em-ups available, with great game balance and spot-on pacing.
Years later and it’s still a joy to pick up and play; even more so with M2’s excellent additions.
