1. X Rocker 51396 Pro Series Pedestal

X Rocker 51396 Pro Series Pedestal

If you’re looking for a top of the line chair, the X Rocker Pro series is a great option, especially in the pedestal type line-up.

First off, the chair has a metal frame and is padded with a soft vinyl, meaning that you’re going to be extra comfortable, and without any worries about squeak or a badly built chair.

It also has a headrest as well as gunstock arms, meaning you get a bit of adjustability.

Put it all together, and you get a chair that’s great for use over long periods of time.

Speaking of those long periods of time, this chair is great for gaming, as it’s compatible with most consoles, as well as anything that has an audio output or Bluetooth (such as your phone).

Along with that, you get 2.1 surround and X Rocker’s fancy Audio Force Modulation tech, which basically is a sound-based rumble feature.

Of course, no point having all that optionality if you don’t have ease of access, which you do through an easily accessible panel on the side of the chair.

Finally, you have the swivel pedestal and a recline feature, so you can just lay back and read a book or listen to music if you’re not in the mood to game.

Conclusion

The X Rocker Pro Series is a great chair with very few cons, the main one being its price point.

Aside from that, you also have the fact that it’s quite heavy, so it’s going to be a thing to move around.

Finally, there is some assembly required, which shouldn’t be too much for an issue for most people.

Aside from those things, it’s a great chair with some great features, and it’s both a great gift and a great purchase for yourself.

2. X Rocker 5127401 Pedestal Gaming Chair

X Rocker 5127401 Pedestal Gaming Chair

Check it out on Amazon »

One step down from the X Rocker Pro Series, the X Rocker 5127401 is still a great gaming.

Much like its bigger cousin, this chair is built with a metal frame and a vinyl exterior material, making it comfortable and pretty sturdy.

It also has armrests, except here they swivel on a point and can be completely flipped up if you don’t like having any armrests at all.

Unlike the Pro Series though, the X Rocker 5127401 has the speakers on the headrest facing the front, which means that you’re probably going to get a superior sound volume and quality as compared to the Pro Series.

That doesn’t necessarily detract from the Pro Series since you are giving up the AFM tech. So no rumble for you!

Of course, it does come with a recline features, as well as an easy to access panel on the side to adjust whatever you have connected to it.

It also has a Bluetooth feature, so it’s great for connecting your handheld device, such as your phone, and just sitting back and relaxing to some great music.

  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs/136 kg
Conclusion

The X Rocker 5127401 is a pretty sturdy chair and if you don’t have the budget, a great alternative to the Pro Series.

That being said, it does still ahave some of the same issues, such as the requirement for an assembly and the need for an adapter for your PS4, since it doesn’t have an RCA connector.

Similarly, you might have to get a BlueTooth adapter if you want to pair it wireless with the Xbox.

All in all, though, it’s a great chair for its price point.

3. X Rocker Extreme III 2.0 5109201 Spider

X Rocker III 2.0 5109201 Spider

Check it out on Amazon »

Sitting somewhere between the Pro Series and the X Rocker 5127401, the spider is an excellent chair if you can’t really pick between the former two.

On the one hand, you have the AFM, which gives you that sound-based rumble, but on the other, the speakers are front facing, so you’re going to get slightly louder perceived volume.

You’ll also notice that the chair itself is made of a mixed material of vinyl and padding, with the padding part creating a sort of wedge and support.

That can be very much hit and miss with some people and is completely up to preference.

One big downside of the Spider is that you don’t get a recline feature.

You also get flip armrests, rather than gun-stock, and that’s something else that will rely a lot on your preferences.

That being said, you are getting great surround sound, in a padded and comfortable chair.

There’s also the easy to access panel on the side and it has three knobs for volume, bass and chair rumble.

It can also accept outputs from anything that has RCA, which is great if you have stuff that does, and not so great if you don’t.

Conclusion

While this is a great middle-of-the-road pedestal chair, especially when compared to the Pro Series and the X Rocker 5127401, the best option is to either go up or go down a notch.

Yes, you might get some parts of both worlds, but the combination may be a bit confusing, weird, and only apply to a few people.

4. X Rocker 5142201 Commander 2.1

X Rocker 5142201 Commander 2.1

Check it out on Amazon »

If you liked the X Rocker 5127401, but it’s still a bit too expensive for you, the Commander might be right up your alley.

While not as fancy, and without the front facing speakers, this is a pretty good chair all things considered.

You get the 2.1 surround sound, as well as the AFM tech, so you retain the rumble feature.

There’s also the side panel, although now it only has a knob for volume and one for increasing the effect of the rumble.

Finally, it has RCA inputs, so you can connect to anything that’s RCA.

Which…you’re going to have to, because this chair isn’t wireless.

You also lose the nice vinyl and have it replaced with polyester padding.

You also get swivel arms that aren’t as great as the other chairs in this line-up.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the biggest problem, which is a metal supporting bar in the seat.

If you’ve ever experienced a similar thing, you’ll know that it will start to dig into your thighs if you spend too much putting your weight completely on the seat.

So this chair may be better served if you’re reclining, like for example, if you have your screen mounted high.

All that being said, it’s still a pretty good chair to put in your living room and have as a piece of furniture, especially when you can just plug in your phone or tablet and listen to some music or watch a film.

Conclusion

While not as fancy as the Pro Series, it’s great if you’re aiming for that roughly $100 price range, this is especially so if the Commander is your first foray into gaming chairs.

There is one thing that needs to be mentioned though, which is that sometimes the X Rocker series, especially the lower priced ones, are a bit finicky when it comes to how well the audio works.

It might work out the box, or you might have to faff around with it a bit.

Which, fair enough, it is a pretty cheap gaming chair, and you’re unlikely to find audio for any cheaper that’s any better quality.

5. X Rocker 5125401 2.1 Wireless

X Rocker 5125401 2.1 Wireless

Check it out on Amazon »

This baby is basically an upgraded Commander, and falls somewhere between the Commander and X Rocker 5127401.

The most standout feature is the two vents near the headrest for cooling.

You don’t generally tend to see this with rocker or pedestal type chairs, so it’s pretty cool.

The red trim tends to help with the ‘cool’ factor and acts a stark contrast to the Commander’s plain black.

Just like the Spider and Commander, you get their patented 2.1 AFM technology, so you’re still getting the rumble feature.

You also have the side-access panel, although the knobs have been reduced from three to two: Volume and Bass.

Of course, you’re still likely to run into the adapter issue if you’re hooking this chair up to a PS4 or an Xbox One.

You’ll also notice that this chair has a mix of vinyl and polyester, although the big thing when it comes to material and cushioning is the big bit at the end to support your thighs.

That design decision is a bit confusing, as thigh/knee support is very much up to preference and a lot of people might be put off by it.

So that’s definitely something you’ll want to consider when you’re buying this chair.

Finally, you get the somewhat finicky swivel armrests.

Again, another decision that might not have been that great.

Ultimately though, you are paying less, so don’t expect some of the nicer stuff from a chair like the X Rocker Pro Series.

  • Weight capacity: 250 lbs/113 kg
Conclusion

It’s hard to say who this chair is made for, except for people who would prefer aesthetics.

The vent probably won’t make a difference for the lengths of time people will sit in it, and the thigh/kneed support thing might put a lot of people off.

Honestly, it might be best to try and aim for a cheaper or more expensive chair, unless aesthetics is what you’re after.

6. Merax Swivel Video Rocker Gaming Chair

Merax Swivel Video Rocker Gaming Chair

Check it out on Amazon »

While it’s true that the Merax Swivel doesn’t really have any of the features of the X-Rockers and other gaming chairs, it’s actually something you should absolutely consider for your living room.

The really big pro of this chair is that you can really use it for anything.

You can game, you can sit back and relax, you can read a book or listen to music.

In fact, you can even sit it in front of a fireplace and enjoy the warmth of the fire and a great purchase.

It’s 100% polyester, so it’s a real breeze, built over a supporting metal frame.

That polyester covers a thick padded foam.

Put that together and you get a comfortable and a solid chair in one package.

Also, it has a 360-degree swivel, so you can feel free to go hog wild doing those spins (Don’t quote me on that!).

Unfortunately, recline wise it isn’t great, with only four different angle settings, as well as being able to fold it completely for easy storage.

Of course, those four positions should satisfy most people, so don’t worry too much about that.

That being said, this isn’t a napping chair.

  • Weight capacity: 250 lbs/113 kg
Conclusion

Yes, it’s not fancy, but it’s not meant to be.

This is a cheap(ish) chair meant to be used for multiple purposes.

It might not have armrests and a speaker, but does have more practical uses.

7. X Rocker 4.1 Pro Series Pedestal

X Rocker 4.1 Pro Series Pedestal

Check it out on Amazon »

Now, if you’re looking for a fully features pedestal chair, the X-Rocker 4.1 Pro Series is the one to get.

Let’s start with the ‘4.1’, which means that you’re getting a whopping 4 speakers and one subwoofer.

This setup comes standard with the AFM technology, which is really given a chance to shine on this chair.

While you aren’t going to get audiophile level quality here, it’s still good enough to satisfy most people.

Of course, it does still have the same issue as other X-Rocker chairs, and you will have to buy an HDMI adapter if you’re going to use it with a PS4 or Xbox One.

Which is a shame really, they really should update the chair for modern consoles and standards.

But, if you’re okay with buying an adapter, it’s a small price to pay for a great chair.

The construction itself is pretty solid, a combination wood and metal frame which makes it sturdy and not likely to fall apart on you.

It’s also covered from head to (almost) toe with vinyl, and padded cushion, so you’re going to get a really great level of comfort.

It also has a small thigh/knee support, which is appreciated since not everybody generally tends to enjoy those.

One perplexing thing though, is the pivot style armrests, rather than gun-stock ones, especially considering that the X-Rocker 2.1 Pro Series has them.

Regardless, they aren’t terrible and they absolutely can be flipped back to get them out of the way.

Keep that in mind if you’re considering this chair.

Finally, I can’t go without mentioning the side-panel which gives you access to the RCA and headset outputs, as well as three knobs for Volume, Bass and Vibration.

While this might seem pretty standard and not worth mentioning, it’s important to note that they could have gone a completely different way, such as a wired remote, or a remote in general, which can easily be lost.

  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs/136 kg
Conclusion

If you’re looking for a gaming chair with all the bells and whistles, the X-Rocker 4.1 Pro Series is an excellent choice.

It has great sound, great access, and easy set-up, not to mention the comfort of the actual chair itself.

Granted, it won’t compare to chairs that are made only for sitting, and you might have issues after several hours of gaming, but at that point, you really should get up and go outside!

8. Giantex 360 Degree Swivel Game Chair

Giantex 360 Degree Swivel Game Chair

Check it out on Amazon »

If you’re looking for a fancier version of the Maxwell Swivel, look no further!

First off, it has a generally sturdier frame.

While it’s also made of steel, it’s slightly more substantial, so you’ll get a much firmer sitting experience.

It also has a ton of padding, as you can tell from the picture.

I mean, the chances of you not sitting in it comfortably are very slim.

Similar to the swivel, this chair has 4 reclining positions, as well as a fold position for storage.

It also has a full 360-degree swivel, which is always a nice feature to have when you’re talking about a pedestal chair.

Speaking of the swivel, one great feature is that you can remove the base’s covering for cleaning, meaning you can properly clean the chair from top to bottom if you wish!

Of course, it should be mentioned at this point that the chair doesn’t rock, so don’t expect that to happen.

Also, for the lower price, you’re giving up some of the additional features, such as speakers and armrest.

It’s not a great loss though, especially if you’re looking for a multi-purpose chair, and if you’re not a tall or big person, it probably won’t even factor into the equation.

Conclusion

When most people think ‘gaming chair’ they automatically think of speakers, armrests and even vents, but the truth is that it isn’t required.

Sometimes having a really comfortable seat is enough. Doubly so if you’re not going to just use it for gaming.

9. X-PRO 300 Pedestal

X-PRO 300 Pedestal

Check it out on Amazon »

There really isn’t much to say about this chair because it’s essentially a more expensive version of the commander but with nicer armrests, that’s it.

As you’d expect, you get a 2.1 surround sound, as well as the AFM technology.

Along with that, you have a polyester covering, with foam cushioning.

There’s a slight recline like most of the X-Rocker chairs.

You’ll also find the side-panel, which has inputs for RCA and Headsets.

The big standout feature is the armrests, which are much, much better in terms of being solidly built and installed.

Instead of bolting on at one point, it does so on three.

It’s also much longer than the armrests you’ll find on the Commander, so if you have long arms, or just love long armrests, this is a good option.

The honest truth is that unless you really like this particular type of armrest, you’re really better off going with the commander.

Magshion Black PU Racing Recliner Chair Set

Now, if you’re looking for the ultimate gaming chair without the bells and whistles, this is the one to look at, because while it might look like an office chair, it’s designed like a gaming chair.

First of all, let’s talk comfort.

The chair is cover in sleek PU leather, with a really sweet white trim.

You also get the wings for added comfort and that hugging feeling we all long for.

Finally, there are vents in the back for that all important cooling.

You put that all together and you get an excellent chair to sit and game on for hours and hours and hours.

Not only that, but the chair itself has both a recline and a tilt.

Specifically, the chair can tilt at a 20-degree angle from the base, meaning you can lean in or side to side when you’re super engrossed in your game.

The back itself also has a manual recline and you can pretty much set it into any position you what.

And if all that wasn’t enough, they included a comfortable footstool made of similar materials, so if you’re watching TV, reading a book or listening to music, you can lay back and feel like you’re just sitting on a cloud!

Conclusion

And there you have it!

As always, I don’t want to skew anybody’s opinion to one chair or another, but here are my quick picks in case you’re on your way out the door:

Entry Level: Maxwel Swivel is probably what you’ll want to get in this price point. Yeah, it’s not fancy or anything, but it’s cheap and it can serve a ton of purposes other than gaming.

Mid Level: This one is a bit more difficult, but I’d suggest the spider or commander if you want speakers and the Giantex 360 degree swivel chair.

High Level: Over here the choice is clear: You’ll either want the X-Series 4.1 Pro Series, or the Magshion Black PU Racing Recliner. Ultimately, the choice will be whether you want to get internal speakers or if you already have a pretty good speaker setup.

Of course, all the chairs on this article serve a function for a price point, so even if the chair you’re looking at doesn’t fall under the quick picks, don’t ignore it completely!

Things to Consider Before Buying a Pedestal Gaming Chair

Which type of chair you need and what you’re going to use it for. Pedestal chairs are great for in the living room and playing on consoles, but not that great for desktop environments.

The features you need (and those that you don’t). For example, some gaming chairs come with speakers, but if you have a surround sound system at home, there’s very little use for them. It’s a good idea to write down a list of your *must have* features so you don’t stray too far!

The materials used in construction. On one hand, you have the internal materials, such as wood or metal, which dictate weight capacity and on the other, you have external, such as leather, cloth, felt, etc.

How much adjustability there is. If you’re a kind of person who is finicky and what things just right, then you’ll want to look for a chair that has all the adjustability options you need.

About ProFanboy
