1. Cozy Sack 6-Feet Bean Bag Chair – The Most Popular Gaming Chair For Adults

Cozy Sack 6-Feet Bean Bag Chair

Check it out on Amazon »

The first gaming chair I’m going to look at isn’t even really a gaming chair at all, it’s a bean bag chair! At first glance, that might seem weird, but I assure you, it actually makes some sense.

For starters, this bean bag chair is massive, coming in at 6 feet. That means you could comfortably fit yourself, and probably even one more person if you use it sideways.

Also, if you’re TV is close to the floor, this will bring you better in-line with where you should be sitting.

The internals will be slightly different than you may be used to since it has shredded memory foam as filling.

It’s definitely a different sitting experience as compared to the traditional bean filling, but it’s still excellent.

Finally, the cover is micro-suede, so it’s super comfortable to sit on. Oh, and it does have an internal liner bag, so you can remove the external cover for washing, which makes things much easier!

Conclusion

So, the one main issue with this bean bag chair is the price, which is quite high considering that you can get a reasonably good traditional gaming chair.

That being said, it’s certainly not a bad option, especially if you like to distress by lounging around.

2. Chill Sack Giant 5′ Memory Foam Bean Bag

Chill Sack Giant 5' Memory Foam Bean Bag

So what if you really like the idea of a bean bag chair but the previous one was slightly too big for you? Well, this is the option you really want to be going for, since it’s slightly smaller (even though it may not sound like it!).

Now in terms of bean bag chair, it’s essentially the same thing as the previous one. It has shredded memory foam, which again, is different than the typical bean filling, so be absolutely aware of this.

The material is micro-suede as well, so it’s super nice and comfy.

Of course, you could also choose to go with one of the other two materials it’s offered in, which is Ultrafur and ‘Pebble’ (microfiber with a pebble pattern to it.)

Finally, it also has an inner liner, so you can remove the outer material without having to worry too much about spilling filling all over the place.

  • Under $200

Conclusion

One of the upsides of getting a bean bag chair that is slightly smaller is that you’re going down by about 25% in price.

Now, whether you prefer a bigger or smaller bean bag chair is up to you, but the price difference should certainly be a big motivator.

3. X Rocker 51259 Pro H3 4.1 Audio Gaming Chair

X Rocker 51259 Pro H3 4.1 Audio Gaming Chair

Moving away from bean bags, this gaming chair is an absolute beast and features often on my site.

Its most standout feature is the 4.1 surround sound, which is incredibly rare for gaming chairs. On top of that, it has some fancy sound-based rumble tech, called AFM.

You also get a nifty and easy to access side-panel which lets you control volume, base and the amount of rumble, plus has your RCA and headphone connections to hook up to your stuff.

Oh, and it also has a wireless option, which is great.

In terms of a chair, it’s pretty great. It has some really good thick padding, covered in a great quality PU leather.

The armrests are gunstock (and look pretty cool to boot). It can also fold in half for super easy storage when you need some extra space.

  • Over $200

Conclusion

Well, there isn’t much to say about this chair that it doesn’t say itself. It’s super sweet, fancy, and an overall awesome seating experience.

The only downside may be that you’ll have to play around with cables and different type of connectors to hook this up to your more modern stuff like your TV or your gaming consoles.

4. OFM Essentials Racing Style Leather Gaming Chair

OFM Essentials Racing Style Leather Gaming Chair

While its looks won’t necessarily stop any traffic, this is actually a pretty solid chair for your desktop, especially if you don’t want to be paying a ton.

For starters, the padding is reasonably ok, although it certainly could be better (you could always add a pillow if it really bothers you).

On the outside, you’ll find a mix of PU leather and fabric mesh, which should offer a pretty comfortable seating experience.

Add to that the soft fins for some extra support, and you got quite the recipe going.

The armrests are padded, which is a nice little touch, but unfortunately, they aren’t adjustable, except to swivel them out of the way.

Speaking of adjustability, it doesn’t really recline, which is a shame since it’s got so much going for it otherwise.

That being said, it does have a rocker function so at least there’s that!

  • Under $200

Conclusion

Again, this isn’t a fancy chair by any standards, but it’s still a reasonably solid gaming chair. I would definitely tell you to consider it!

5. Furmax High Back Racing Gaming Chair

Furmax High Back Racing Gaming Chair

If you are looking for a gaming chair for the desktop, but you want something slightly fancier than the previous chair, this is probably the one you’ll want to go with.

As you can see, the chair itself is actually prletty visually striking. The externals are a high quality, stitched PU leather that looks and feel awesome.

It also has some thick padding underneath, which means that with the leather, you’re going to be enjoying spending your time in this chair.

Thankfully, unlike the Essentials chair, this one does actually recline all the way back to 180 degree, which is basically flat and absolutely wonderful.

Equally great is the fact that the armrests are adjustable up down (even though it would have been even greater if they could adjust in/out as well).

Finally, some additional features you’ll find is a nice big footrest, both lumbar and headrest support pillows, and a rocker function.

Price Range
  • Under $200
Available Colors
  • Blue
  • White
Compatible With
  • None (not specifically designed for certain gaming platforms)
Perfect For
  • Adults

  • Chair type: Racer

  • Suitable for flight simulator: No
  • Suitable for eSports: Yes
  • Suitable for living room: No
  • Cup holder: No
  • Massage: No
  • Weight capacity: 310 lb/140 kg
Conclusion

As you can tell, this is actually an excellent gaming chair for your desk, and while I know that you’ll probably be looking at other chairs as well, I certainly think you should put this one at the top of your list of potential candidates.

6. Openwheeler GEN2 Racing Wheel Stand Cockpit

Openwheeler GEN2 Racing Wheel Stand Cockpit

Check it out on Amazon »

If you’ve read some of my previous reviews, you’ll have seen this chair come up from time to time, for good reason.

For starters, you have a bunch of surfaces for your gear: Stand for your wheel/yoke, pedal board and a shifter/joystick stand that is adjustable either right or left (for those of you who drive on the wrong side of the road!).

Each one of these has a lot of adjustability from up/down to left/right, so you can get the positioning absolutely perfect to how you like it.

The chair itself is also pretty great, and what you’d expect from a racer style chair. The padding is thin, but firm and the exterior is covered in a great fabric mesh.

Adding to that is the winglets on the side to offer you some added support, and you can even hook it up with some racing-style straps to lock yourself in.

Price Range
  • Over $200
Available Colors
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Red
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Black
Compatible With
  • Most steering wheels and pedals

  • Chair type: Cockpit
  • Reclines: Yes
  • Armrest: No
  • Footrest: Yes, for the pedal board
  • Ergonomic: No
  • High back: Yes
  • Bluetooth: No
  • Speakers: No
  • Vibration: No
  • Sits on the floor: Yes
  • Monitor mount: No
  • Keyboard tray: Yes, but for your wheel/yoke

  • Suitable for flight simulator: Yes
  • Suitable for eSports: No
  • Suitable for living room: Yes
  • Cup holder: No
  • Massage: No
  • Weight capacity: Not specified, but basically unlimited
Conclusion

While this isn’t the fanciest cockpit/racing wheel setup you can get, it’s a pretty good mid-level one, and probably perfect for the majority of people out there.

Of course, it does cost a pretty penny, so it might not be for everyone after all!

7. FDW Recliner Chair/Single Reclining Sofa

FDW Recliner Chair/Single Reclining Sofa

Check it out on Amazon »

If you’re looking for a gaming chair that might fit the living room aesthetic a bit better, this is one’s a great option.

Looking pretty sleek and modern, this sofa gaming chair is covered from head to toe in some really good PU leather.

Underneath that is some generous padding, which will make want to sit there forever. Combine that with its recline function with the footrest, and it’s likely you’ll feel like you’re floating on a cloud!

Unfortunately, that’s as fancy as it gets, since there are no hidden storage compartments in the armrests, or side pouches to put remotes/books/devices and so on.

If it had, this chair would probably sit much higher on a lot of recommendation lists.

Price Range
  • Under $200
Available Colors
  • Black
  • Brown
Compatible With
  • None (not specifically designed for certain gaming platforms)
Perfect For
  • Adults
Features
  • Chair type: Single Couch
  • Reclines: Yes
  • Armrest: Yes
  • Footrest: Yes
  • Ergonomic: No
  • High back: Yes
  • Bluetooth: No
  • Speakers: No
  • Vibration: No
  • Sits on the floor: No
  • Monitor mount: No
  • Keyboard tray: No
  • Suitable for gaming desk: No
  • Suitable for racing games: No
  • Suitable for flight simulator: No
  • Suitable for eSports: No
  • Suitable for living room: Yes
  • Cup holder: No
  • Massage: No
  • Weight capacity: 250 lb/113 kg
Conclusion

Yes, it is a little bit disappointing and inconvenient that it doesn’t have some form of storage, but bar that, it’s a pretty good bang for your buck.

If you don’t want to break the bank, and yet still have a chair that fits the aesthetic of a living room, this is probably the one you should pick.

8. X Rocker 5172801 Vibe Sound Chair with Arms

X Rocker 5172801 Vibe Sound Chair with Arms

Check it out on Amazon »

While this is a slightly less fancy version of the previous rocker chair, it’s still a pretty good gaming chair, with essentially the same features, just at a slightly cheaper price.

Now of course, since it is cheaper, you aren’t going 4.1 surround, but instead only 2.1, which still isn’t that bad.

Thankfully, it still has some wireless connectivity through Bluetooth, so you can absolutely connect it to your smart devices.

Of course, you still retain the side panel, as well as the RCA and headphone connections.

Unfortunately, though, you do miss out on the AFM rumble-tech.

In terms of the chair, it’s pretty standard. It has somewhat thick padding, covered in a mix of PU leather and fabric mesh (which is still excellent).

The armrests are not gunstock but swivel ones, and they’re also padded which is a nice addition.

Oh and you can absolutely fold this in half for easier storage, which is always a plus with the X rocker chairs!

Price Range
  • Under $200
Available Colors
  • Black/Red
Compatible With
  • Anything with an RCA or headphone output
  • Anything with Bluetooth connectivity
Perfect For
  • Adults
Features
  • Chair type: Rocker
  • Reclines: No
  • Armrest: Yes
  • Footrest: No
  • Ergonomic: No
  • High back: Yes
  • Bluetooth: Yes
  • Speakers: Yes
  • Vibration: No
  • Sits on the floor: Yes
  • Monitor mount: No
  • Keyboard tray: No

  • Suitable for racing games: No
  • Suitable for flight simulator: No
  • Suitable for eSports: No
  • Suitable for living room: Yes
  • Cup holder: No
  • Massage: No
  • Weight capacity: Not specified, but assume 200 lb/90 kg
Conclusion

While this isn’t as fancy as the X Rocker 4.1 HD, it’s still an excellent rocker chair and a good addition to any living room.

It also comes from a known manufacturer with a reasonably good track record and build quality, so you don’t really have much to worry about.

9. Playseat Challenge

Playseat Challenge

If you’re looking for a more low-tech version of a wheel/cockpit setup, this is definitely the one for you.

While it isn’t very special, it does provide the basic functions you need. It has a spot for your wheel, which should work with most brands, and it also has a base for the pedals, which should also fit most brands.

The chair itself a steel frame, wrapped with a suede cover, so while it’s not the most comfortable, it should be good enough for a couple of hours.

Also, given that it is so low tech, it can absolutely fold for easy storage and carrying!

Price Range
  • Over $200
Available Colors
  • Black
Compatible With
  • Most 3rd party wheel and pedal sets from Fanatec, Logitech, Thrustmaster and MadCatz for all gaming consoles and PCs
Perfect For
  • Adults
Features
  • Chair type: Cockpit
  • Reclines: No
  • Armrest: No
  • Footrest: Yes, for the pedals
  • Ergonomic: No
  • High back: No
  • Bluetooth: No
  • Speakers: No
  • Vibration: No
  • Sits on the floor: No
  • Monitor mount: No
  • Keyboard tray: No

  • Suitable for racing games: Yes
  • Suitable for flight simulator: Yes
  • Suitable for eSports: No
  • Suitable for living room: Yes
  • Cup holder: No
  • Massage: No
  • Weight capacity: 200 lb/90 kg
Conclusion

While it’s not much to look at (it wouldn’t be out of place in your lawn!), it’s a good option if you need something portable.

Unfortunately, it is very pricey, and if you aren’t looking for portability and storage, I’d go with the Openwheeler.

10. Homall Gaming Recliner Chair Single

Homall Gaming Recliner Chair Single

Another sofa chair option for your gaming, this is slightly better, and more gamer looking than the FDW recliner chair.

It is similar, in that it has some reasonably good padding, covered by high-quality PU leather. It also has a recline function with the footrest part, so it’s great if you just want to lie back and watch something.

The best of all is that it actually has side pouches for your remotes, controllers, books, and devices!

Price Range
  • Under $200
Available Colors
  • Black/Red
  • Black/Blue
Compatible With
  • None (not specifically designed for certain gaming platforms)
Perfect For
  • Adults
Features
  • Chair type: Single Couch

  • Suitable for flight simulator: No
  • Suitable for eSports: No
  • Suitable for living room: Yes
  • Cup holder: No
  • Massage: No
  • Weight capacity: 265 lb/120 kg
Conclusion

One of the great things about this chair is the gamery aesthetic it gives off, which you won’t find from most manufacturers.

Speaking of, Homall is a well-known and respected one, so you shouldn’t worry about build quality or anything like that!

Conclusion

And there it is, a nice selection of different type of gaming chairs for your awesome self!

Now, at this point, I usually give quick pics, but the variety of chairs, and how specific they will be to your needs, makes me think it’s better to just end it here so that I don’t bias your opinion and your buying.

So, with that, I’ll leave you to your shopping, and I wish you all the luck!

Things to Consider Before Buying a Gaming Chair for Adults

So the first and most obvious thing you need to consider is what type of gaming chair you want. There’s a variety of different options depending on whether you’re looking for something for your desk, or for a living room.

If you are going for a living room gaming chair, make sure you’re getting a seating option that matches the height of your TV. If it’s low to the ground, get a bean bag or a rocker, if not, get a sofa. Either way, roughly matching your eyeline with the middle of the TV screen is important.

Adults tend to come in lots of shapes and sizes, so it’s hard to actually find a one-size-fits-all solution. Therefore, when you’re picking a gaming chair, make sure it’s the right dimensions for you.

For example, you don’t want a very high chair if you’re on the shorter end of the scale so that your feet aren’t always dangling or close to it.

Make sure that you’re absolutely comfortable with the material on the gaming chair you’re getting. This is likely a product that you’re going to use daily for a year or more, so you want to make sure that you’re ok with what you’re sitting on, as well as the required maintenance.

One thing I always tell people is to be careful what gaming chair they buy if they have floors that are easy to scratch. So certainly keep an eye out for that!

Finally, and as always, make sure you are buying from a reputable manufacturer with a good track record and customer support.
