We already published the list of best PS1 games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best PS1 vehicle simulator games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the PS1 definitely has a great library of vehicle simulator games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the PS1 and vehicle simulator games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Grudge Warriors
- Release Data: Tempest Software/Take-Two Interactive, 2000
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
Deep down, the game isn’t half-bad—just very lean when it comes to features and presentation.
The game’s mechanics are solid, if uninspired, so if you’re looking for a cheap way to mindlessly blow a few hours, Grudge Warriors has got you covered.
#9. Twisted Metal III
- Release Data: 989 Studios, 1998
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
Twisted Metal III contains the same core gameplay as previous titles and implements improvements including better vehicle handling, better AI, better visuals, and an excellent deathmatch mode complete with customization options.
Overall, it is fun, in a limited, already-been-there-and-done-that way. The old formula still works, and the developer didn’t mess it up badly.
#8. Twisted Metal: Small Brawl
- Release Data: Incognito Inc./SCEA, 2001
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
This is a game that youngsters and die-hard fans will undoubtedly enjoy, but it’s certainly not the game for everybody.
Some will immediately be turned away by the graphics and others by the more childish design, but if your PlayStation is still kicking, you might want to check it out.
#7. Star Wars: Demolition
- Release Data: Luxoflux, Inc./LucasArts, 2000
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
At first glance, Star Wars Demolition might seem like some half-baked attempt to cash in on the Star Wars license, though it’s actually a competently executed game.
It’s nothing that we haven’t seen before in some regard, but its variations on the established theme make the experience at least somewhat different from the rest.
#6. Twisted Metal 4
- Release Data: 989 Studios, 1999
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
In the end, Twisted Metal 4 is as huge a leap ahead of Twisted Metal III as the second was to the original.
However, the storylines for the drivers are pretty bad and the gameplay is more like Twisted Metal III so if you’re in the minority that enjoyed the previous game, you’ll probably like this.
#5. Armored Core: Master of Arena
- Release Data: From Software, 2000
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
Overall, Armored Core: Master of Arena is a good game.
Even with the graphics showing their age, the gameplay and concept behind the game is still fun and addicting.
If you’re a fan of Armored Core, you will find something here to enjoy. Even if you have never played Armored Core before, this game has enough to get you into it.
#4. Army Men: Air Attack
- Release Data: 3DO, 1999
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
While it may not completely wash away the bad taste left by Army Men 3D and Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes, Army Men: Air Attack is a fun little mission-based shooter that is worth checking out.
The ease of the game makes it a good casual session, but the multiplayer is good enough to warrant getting the game.
#3. Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012
- Release Data: SingleTrac/GT Interactive, 1998
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
There’s still a lot of fun to be had here, and fans of any driving shooter will enjoy it, but those expecting as big of a leap as we saw from Twisted Metal to Twisted Metal 2 are going to feel Rogue Trip falls somewhat short.
#2. Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense
- Release Data: Luxoflux, Inc./Activision, 1999
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
As in the last game, you can play either on the good side or the bad side, each of which has its own mission requirements for each level, before all the other vehicles must be eliminated.
Also, you can unlock a host of hidden characters, and there are two multiplayer options, a two-player cooperative mode and two-player deathmatches.
#1. Vigilante 8
- Release Data: Luxoflux, Inc./Activision, 1998
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
Overall, Vigilante 8 is an incredible two-player game.
The one-player side of Vigilante 8 is short and easy, even on the most difficult setting.
Players who are still playing Twisted Metal 2 can finally retire their Twisted Metal 2 disc and move over to Vigilante 8.
