We already published the list of best PS1 games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best PS1 linear games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the PS1 definitely has a great library of linear games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the PS1 and linear games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#5. Tomb Raider Chronicles
- Release Data: Core Design Ltd./Eidos Interactive, 2000
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
If you compare Chronicles to the first game, you’ll see that significant improvements have been made to the basic Lara Croft 3D model and its environments.
If you haven’t played a Tomb Raider game in years, Tomb Raider Chronicles is a worthy enough “sequel” to the original and can deliver an adequate number of thrills, though nothing unique or surprising.
#4. Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft
- Release Data: Core Design Ltd./Eidos Interactive, 1998
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Tomb Raider III is a deeper, bigger, more varied game than before, and it’s a better game for it.
Lara is more capable of immersing the player with more agile and athletic stunts.
If you loved the first two Tomb Raider installments and can’t wait for more, then Tomb Raider III is worth checking out.
#3. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
- Release Data: Core Design Ltd./Capcom, 1999
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Lara can do plenty of new things that add to the gameplay and the new puzzles add a great deal to the game, but there’s nothing revolutionary.
But, if you do enjoy the Tomb Raider games, this is the best one yet and is a must have game for Tomb Raider fans.
#2. Tomb Raider II
- Release Data: Core Design Ltd./Eidos Interactive, 1997
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Tomb Raider II is very hard, and can be good or bad, depending on how you like your games. Be prepared to spend a lot of time with this girl.
This being said, if you liked Tomb Raider, you’re going to love Tomb Raider II. The original feeling may be gone, but the level of challenge is there.
#1. Tomb Raider
- Release Data: Core Design Ltd./Victor Interactive Software, 1996
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Tomb Raider is simply a smart game, bursting with great touches.
But, its only real problem lies in the graphics. To be frank, the seams in the textures are glaringly noticeable. Some of the background images are also pretty chunky.
These points aside, though, Tomb Raider is one of the best games of the 90s.
