We already published the list of best PS1 games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best PS1 flight simulator games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the PS1 definitely has a great library of flight simulator games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the PS1 and flight simulator games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Independence Day
- Release Data: Radical Entertainment/Fox Interactive, 1997
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
Independence Day isn’t a total waste of time; rather, it’s a so-so game.
The full motion video is pretty cool and it’s neat to hear Will Smith’s voice.
In the end, the movie is worth checking out, but unfortunately the game isn’t.
#9. Vanark
- Release Data: Bit Town/Asmik Ace Entertainment, Inc, 2000
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
In the end, Vanark is a good game.
Unfortunately, it’s a good game that lasts for two to three hours, and it doesn’t offer anything other than a level-selection option after completing it.
So while you might really enjoy playing this game, you might be best served by playing it for a night.
#8. Eagle One: Harrier Attack
- Release Data: Glass Ghost/Infogrames, 2000
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
Eagle One does have its problems, but in the end, it’s not a total loss.
If you don’t mind putting up with an initially clunky control scheme, and you aren’t above dealing with decidedly subpar graphics, then you just might find some fresh flight-sim gameplay in Eagle One: Harrier Attack.
#7. G-Police: Weapons of Justice
- Release Data: Psygnosis, 1999
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
G-Police 2 makes few improvements over the original and never really overcomes the issues that plagued its predecessor.
While the action is somewhat better, and the missions have a slightly increased sense of variety, the game is still rather boring.
It demonstrates that if you were looking for a futuristic air-combat game, you’d be better off with Colony Wars.
#6. Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere
- Release Data: Namco, 2000
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
For fans of the first and second games, Ace Combat 3 might be disappointing to say the least.
Certainly this game is more than the sequel-mania that has overtaken the PlayStation library like some cheap fad, but it’s not what you would call a great game.
#5. Soviet Strike
- Release Data: EA Tiburon/Electronic Arts, 1996
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
The only real plus to Soviet Strike is its full-motion video.
It also features some of the best video game acting seen in a long time.
But maybe if EA took a little less time finding good actors and a little more time working on control, they’d have a more exciting title on their hands.
#4. R/C Stunt Copter
- Release Data: Shiny Entertainment/Virgin Interactive, 1999
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Civilian
Going beyond the camera’s capabilities, the controls in R/C are fantastic. You’ll be amazed with some of the stunts you can pull off after spending a lot of time with the game.
There’s a lot of value in the single-player mode because the control is so good. Altogether, R/C is a genre-bending title that’s well worth checking out.
#3. Nuclear Strike
- Release Data: Electronic Arts, 1997
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
If you liked the previous entries in this series, Nuclear Strike is a game that you will probably enjoy.
As far as shoot-’em-ups go, it’s fun, but it lacks anything in the way of innovation.
The simple approach suits the game well enough, but you’ll definitely feel empty afterwards.
#2. Ace Combat 2
- Release Data: Namco, 1997
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
Ace Combat 2 fixes every single problem that troubled the first game.
The only thing that slightly mars this otherwise amazing game is the difficulty level.
Sure, there are a lot of levels, but most of them are very easy. The result is a great game you’ll be done with in about two days.
#1. G-Police
- Release Data: Wheelhaus/Psygnosis, 1997
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
The look of the game is pure sci-fi, with a heavy emphasis on Blade Runner.
With a flair for the dramatic, and an attention to detail that should impress even the toughest of critics, G-Police is a rock-solid example of great gameplay.
