We already published the list of best PS3 games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best PS3 survival/horror games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the PS3 definitely has a great library of survival/horror games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the PS3 and survival/horror games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Resident Evil: Revelations
- Release Data: Capcom, 2013
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
Resident Evil: Revelations is a predominantly safe spin-off that’s neither a ship wreck nor a titanic success.
It sits somewhere above mediocrity, delivering an occasionally tense survival action experience that’s undone by its overwhelming predictability.
There are some neat moments on offer, but it’s a largely forgetful title, lost in a sea of much more memorable adventures.
#9. Resident Evil 6
- Release Data: Capcom, 2012
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
Resident Evil 6 steers Capcom’s survival-horror series in an even more action-oriented direction – and comes up short in some places as a result.
However, if you can forgive the troublesome camera and woeful partner AI, there’s still a lot to like about this third-person shooter.
#8. Tokyo Jungle
- Release Data: Crispy’s/SCEI, 2012
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
Tokyo Jungle offers up a truly terrifying vision of the future, where humans have been replaced by beasts as the masters of the planet.
It should come as little surprise to learn that the game almost didn’t get the green light, but we should be eternally grateful that it did.
#7. SIREN: Blood Curse
- Release Data: SCE Japan Studio/SCEI, 2008
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
The surprisingly small number of places, along with the short running time and the awkward controls, would doom a lesser game to failure.
But Blood Curse, with its great use of the sightjacking mechanic, is an unusual game that finds an unusual, terrifying kind of success.
#6. Catherine
- Release Data: Atlus, 2011
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
Catherine is by no means a bad game, but it’s certainly a frustrating one.
This story-heavy puzzler is mature and occasionally profound, exploring themes like sexual fidelity, personal responsibility, and trust.
Catherine doesn’t just challenge your hand/eye coordination: It challenges your intellect and your emotions.
#5. Shadows of the Damned
- Release Data: Grasshopper Manufacture/Electronic Arts, 2011
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
This is a tightly crafted adventure with a relentless sense of pace that continually pushes you forward.
Every boss fight and diversion serves to enhance the experience, and the combat sequences are so beautifully realized that they continually surprise and entertain.
#4. Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares
- Release Data: Capcom, 2010
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
With its heart-pounding moments, scarce supplies of ammunition, and old-school puzzles, Lost in Nightmares delivers an entirely different experience than Resident Evil 5.
Whether you’ve been looking for a more traditional survival horror experience or you just want a new reason to dust off your copy of Resident Evil 5, Lost in Nightmares is a great investment.
#3. Condemned 2: Bloodshot
- Release Data: Monolith Productions/Sega Europe, 2008
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
It’s brutal and often disturbing, and certainly not appropriate for everyone.
But the reason to play this game is to be scared, to be shocked, and to explore the secrets of a slimy world where the natural and the supernatural become intertwined.
#2. Resident Evil 4 HD
- Release Data: Capcom, 2011
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
If you’ve never played this game or if you really want to have a copy on your PS3, you can’t really go wrong with Resident Evil 4 HD.
Additionally, if you only had the PS2 or the GameCube versions before, this is a nice way to get the extra content along with the superior graphics.
#1. Resident Evil 5
- Release Data: Capcom, 2009
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
Resident Evil 5 comes fresh in its new shell, proofing that action and horror can come hand in hand.
This game maybe not the best in terms of solo campaign, but it shines in the co-op gameplay where you and your friend sit down and blast zombies’ head while shouting at each other.
