We already published the list of best GBA games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best GBA fighting games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the GBA definitely has a great library of fighting games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the GBA and fighting games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Guilty Gear X Advance Edition
- Release Data: Arc System Works/Sammy Studios, 2002
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
Guilty Gear X Advance Edition is not the best fighting game you can get on the GBA, but it’s also not the worst.
It almost sits right in the middle. It looks decent, sounds OK, and plays almost as well as any other good fighter on the GBA.
#9. Sonic Battle
- Release Data: Sonic Team/Sega, 2004
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
Not everything in Sonic Battle is as good as it could have been. While the battles are fun, they will get repetitive for most gamers.
And even though the controls are tight and responsive, you’ll be left wondering why your character didn’t pull off a move that you entered.
#8. Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors
- Release Data: Banpresto/Bandai, 2004
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors is the portable fighting game that Dragon Ball fans want.
The developers managed to strike a balance between the kinds of things that ought to be in any decent fighting game and the kinds of things that fans of the show want to be able to do.
#7. The King of Fighters EX: Neo Blood
- Release Data: Artoon/Marvelous Entertainment, 2002
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
For fighting fans, The King of Fighters EX Neo Blood will not disappoint. It’s easily one of the best fighting games available for the system.
Sure, there’s Street Fighter II, but as most you already know, both games are really different in execution and style.
If you’re a fan of the series, there’s nothing left to say; get it.
#6. Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition
- Release Data: Criterion Games/Midway, 2003
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
For anyone who hasn’t already tried the Mortal Kombat series on the GBA, Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition is a good starting point.
If you already own Deadly Alliance, however, the decision to make the jump to Tournament Edition will primarily depend on your love of the series and whether or not you have friends to compete against.
#5. The King of Fighters EX2: Howling Blood
- Release Data: Marvelous Entertainment/Atlus, 2003
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
The King of Fighters EX2: Howling Blood has positioned itself as the standard that subsequent fighting games published for the Game Boy Advance must meet or beat.
It compromises nothing in delivering the arcade King of Fighters experience to the palm of your hand.
#4. Tekken Advance
- Release Data: Eighting/Raizing/Infogrames, 2002
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 3D
On its own merits, Tekken Advance is a solid fighting game.
But the differences aren’t noticeable enough to keep Tekken Advance from being a game worth playing, and thankfully, it has more to offer than just the novelty of seeing yet another series favorably scaled down to handheld size.
#3. Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Revival
- Release Data: Capcom, 2001
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
Turbo Revival is a perfect choice for any Game Boy Advance owner looking for some great fighting action on the go.
And for longtime fighting game fans who may not have a Game Boy Advance yet, this is the perfect reason to get one.
#2. Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Release Data: Crawfish Interactive/Capcom, 2002
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 2D
Street Fighter Alpha 3 has been a very popular fighting game over the years, and with good reason.
This new Game Boy Advance port is as faithful a rendition of the original as can reasonably be expected, so it’s not just one of the better fighting games—it’s also a terrific game to have on the go.
#1. Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
- Release Data: Criterion Games/Midway, 2002
- Genre: Action » Fighting » 3D
Deadly Alliance has just enough combos and reversals to make it fun, and the real stars of the game are the blood and guts you’ll see during and after each match.
That said, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance sticks to the spirit of its violent predecessors and is enjoyable on its own merits.
