We already published the list of best PS2 games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best PS2 3D adventure games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the PS2 definitely has a great library of 3D adventure games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the PS2 and 3D adventure games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Chulip
- Release Data: Punchline/Victor Interactive Software, 2007
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
Chulip is likely one of the most confusing experiences you’ll have with your PlayStation 2.
Nearly everything about it is uncomfortably bizarre, which may be enough for those who avoid the mundane or just get a kick out of the more peculiar corners of Japanese culture.
#9. Myst III: Exile
- Release Data: Presto Studios/Ubisoft, 2002
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Because Myst III progresses at the pace at which you solve the puzzles, it lacks any sense of sustained drama or tension, let alone action.
Some players will surely find it all rather dull or frustrating.
Ultimately, what’s most impressive about Myst III: Exile is that it combines intellectual challenge with scene after scene of enchanting beauty.
#8. Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude
- Release Data: High Voltage Software/VU Games, 2004
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
The game portions found here are largely insignificant and are actually pretty uninteresting as a whole, but the comedic brilliant story, characters, and dialogue, as well as the clever and profane tone of it all, really do make this a game worth playing through for anybody who enjoys a particularly adult brand of humor.
#7. Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law
- Release Data: High Voltage Software/Capcom, 2008
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » First-Person
Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law isn’t the game that will create a resurgence in PS2 gaming.
Instead, we get a typical 3D point-and-click type of game with a zany cast of characters that will please die-hard fans of the television show.
#6. Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
- Release Data: Idol Minds/SCEA, 2005
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie does have some nice moments, and it makes plenty of reference to popular creatures, items, and areas from the Neopets website.
Unfortunately, the crux of the gameplay is made up of unnecessarily long, aimless exploration and disappointing combat.
However, the item collection is kind of cool, and so is the attached story.
#5. The X-Files: Resist or Serve
- Release Data: Black Ops Entertainment/Sierra Entertainment, 2004
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
The X-Files: Resist or Serve is an authentic game, complete with a good script, good voice acting, pretty good re-creations of the characters in video form, and an enormous amount of references to the details of the series.
If you’re a fan of The X-Files, you’ll really enjoy it.
#4. Dog’s Life
- Release Data: Frontier Developments/SCEE, 2004
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
Dog’s Life is for kids and shouldn’t be considered by any hardcore gamers.
There’s not a whole lot to it, but what’s there is entertaining enough, and it certainly lets you do things you can’t do in just about any other game.
#3. Shadow of Destiny
- Release Data: Konami, 2001
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
The original structure and narrative make Shadow of Destiny well worth playing, despite its minor flaws.
Gamers willing to invest the time required to unravel the title’s mysteries will discover one of the PS2’s most enjoyable games and one of the most original adventure games on a console.
#2. Escape from Monkey Island
- Release Data: LucasArts, 2001
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
Escape from Monkey Island is an excellent port of one of the best PC adventure games.
It’s one of the more unusual games available for the PlayStation 2, and its warm, tropical environments and great cast of characters will make you feel right at home right away.
#1. Indigo Prophecy
- Release Data: Quantic Dream/Atari SA, 2005
- Genre: Adventure » 3D » Third-Person
When all is said and done, Indigo Prophecy is the kind of game that will inspire lots of conversation among those who play it.
Not everyone is going to love the way in which this game plays, but anybody with a love for good storytelling and the adventure genre will find Indigo Prophecy to be an original and enlightening experience.
