#10. Star Wars Starfighter: Special Edition
- Release Data: Secret Level/LucasArts, 2001
- Genre: Simulation » Space » Combat
Star Wars Starfighter: Special Edition manages to maintain the charm of the Lucas films and also deliver an entertaining foray into the Star Wars universe.
The game fails to put the Xbox’s power to full use, but the fun that was available in the PlayStation 2 version is still fully intact.
#9. Heroes of the Pacific
- Release Data: IR Gurus/Ubisoft, 2005
- Genre: Simulation » Flight » Combat
The game’s campaign is compelling, and the game plays well overall.
Some flight-combat buffs will probably dislike the game’s loose style, but people who aren’t necessarily looking for a pitch-perfect simulation of the conflict will enjoy Heroes of the Pacific.
#8. Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
- Release Data: Secret Level/Activision, 2002
- Genre: Simulation » Space » Combat
Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter is a solid game that fans of the first entry in the series should check out without giving it a second thought.
While it’s not the prettiest game out there, it does offer strong control and entertaining gameplay, as well as the sound and music we’ve come to expect from a Star Wars game.
#7. Mashed: Drive to Survive
- Release Data: Supersonic Software/Empire Interactive, 2004
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
Mashed: Drive to Survive is looking good and the reasons are that it has extra tracks, cars, better handling and all the little things that make it better.
With a learning curve of about 30 seconds, Drive to Survive is a ton of fun that you should be able to keep coming back to time and time again.
#6. The Sims Bustin’ Out
- Release Data: Maxis/EA Games, 2003
- Genre: Simulation » Virtual » Virtual Life
The Sims Bustin’ Out successfully expands on the previous game by letting your sims “bust out” of their own homes and freely visit their neighbors.
All things considered, The Sims Bustin’ Out makes solid improvements over its predecessor and stands on its own as a great version of The Sims for consoles.
#5. MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf
- Release Data: Day 1 Studios/Microsoft Game Studios, 2004
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
The first MechAssault was a superb game in its day, but it also benefited from being the first awesome multiplayer game available for the system.
However, years have passed and in almost every way MechAssault 2 is a better effort than the first.
#4. The Sims

- Genre: Simulation » Virtual » Virtual Life

#3. Steel Battalion
- Release Data: Capcom/Microsoft Game Studios, 2002
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
If you’re willing to put up with this sort of game design, you’ll find a short, fairly simplistic game that is backed up by one of the most impressive presentations ever seen on a console.
If that sounds like something you’d want to own, then don’t hesitate to pick up one of the huge Steel Battalion controllers with the game.
#2. MechAssault
- Release Data: Day 1 Studios/Microsoft Game Studios, 2002
- Genre: Simulation » Vehicle » Combat
MechAssault isn’t an overly complicated game, and once you get used to the game’s pacing, it’s easy to get good at controlling your mech.

#1. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Release Data: FASA Studio/Microsoft Game Studios, 2003
