#5. Blood Omen 2

Blood Omen 2
  • Release Data: Nixxes Software/Eidos Interactive, 2002
  • Genre: Action Adventure » Survival

It isn’t quite as great as fans of the series would like, but it can still be worth a shot.

And if you’ve never played a Legacy of Kain game, then this is a good enough place to start.

The story has at least a couple of fine twists, and Kain is as memorable of a main character as they come.

#4. Resident Evil 0

Resident Evil 0
  • Release Data: Flagship/Capcom, 2002
  • Genre: Action Adventure » Survival

Those who have stuck with the Resident Evil series despite its insistence on not changing its ways will find that Resident Evil 0 still has a lot to offer in the form of some terrific graphics, a couple of small changes to the series’ gameplay, and a story that unveils the origins behind the Umbrella corporation.

#3. Resident Evil

Resident Evil
  • Release Data: Capcom, 2002
  • Genre: Action Adventure » Survival

There are a couple of issues, sure. It’s not a perfect game.

But Resident Evil is easily one of the scariest, most atmospheric games in existence.

It’s a triumph as a stand-alone adventure and a major accomplishment as a remake.

Every gamer should pick this up for their GameCube.

#2. Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
  • Release Data: Silicon Knights/Nintendo, 2002
  • Genre: Action Adventure » Survival

Eternal Darkness doesn’t offer an immediate pay off.

Players will have to invest into the adventure, play, expand, build, learn the magicks, figure out the story, and really advance to reap the full treasures the title has to offer.

And the treasures are grand, beautiful things to behold.

#1. Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4
  • Release Data: Capcom, 2005
  • Genre: Action Adventure » Survival

You’ll surely find from playing Resident Evil 4 that all this sort of high praise is warranted, though it’s worth reiterating that this is one of those games that you ought to approach with as few preconceived notions as possible.

Essentially, if you’ve been entertained by other action-adventure games recently, then chances are you’ll be blown away by this one.

About

Hi, I'm R, and I've been playing video games since I was a kid. My first console was the original PlayStation (the gray one) and I spent countless hours playing Crash Bandicoot series and Spyro series. My second console was the PS2 Fat, and I completed all of the GTA series 100%.
