With amazing titles available, the GameCube definitely has a great library of linear games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the GameCube and linear games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Disney’s Hide & Sneak
- Release Data: Capcom, 2003
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
The only thing Hide & Sneak has going for it are its two main characters.
Mickey and Mini have remained popular for some years now in part because of the billions of dollars supporting them, but also because they’re as charming as characters can be.
There’s also lots of voice and numerous cutscenes that will have kids rolling in laughter.
#9. Dragon’s Lair 3D: Return to the Lair
- Release Data: Dragonstone Software/THQ, 2003
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Dragon’s Lair 3D is one of those game revivals that bears enough resemblance to its source material to draw up some nostalgia for the original.
But obviously this game is not aimed at the hardcore gamer.
It’s a novelty, but one that can provide some entertainment for those looking for an evening or two of entertainment.
#8. Batman Begins
- Release Data: Eurocom/EA Games, 2005
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Batman Begins makes for a decent companion to the movie.
After you spend about seven or eight hours to beat the game, you unlock numerous bonus items, such as interviews with the movie cast, galleries, and more.
Overall, Batman Begins is a worthwhile consideration for die-hard Batman fans and for younger players.
#7. Enter the Matrix
- Release Data: Shiny Entertainment/Atari SA, 2003
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Enter the Matrix is a game that, done right, could have been something special.
Never before have games and movies tried to come together in this way, and the concept is a cool one.
All told, if you’re a huge fan of the movie, it’s worth playing to see the few additional sequences.
#6. Spartan: Total Warrior
- Release Data: Creative Assembly/Sega, 2005
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Overall, Spartan: Total Warrior is a pretty fun action-adventure game that should keep you entertained for at least the six or seven hours it takes you to get through the story.
With just a bit more effort, Spartan could have been great.
But it’s still worth playing if you’re interested in the subject matter or in hack-and-slash linear games in general.
#5. Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
- Release Data: Vicarious Visions/Activision, 2002
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Jedi Outcast isn’t without a few shortcomings—the game starts off slow for a shooter/action-adventure.
However, it’s a very fun game that borrows the best elements from past games, introduces a number of its own great twists, and then combines these elements to make something that will be highly enjoyable for Star Wars or shooter/action-adventure fans.
#4. Tomb Raider: Legend
- Release Data: Crystal Dynamics/Eidos Interactive, 2006
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Tomb Raider: Legend is a good return to the roots of the series.
It doesn’t do anything new or different, but it has a great blend of action and adventure that will always keep you moving and interested.
The problem is that it moves a bit too fast, and it’s all over way too soon.
#3. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
- Release Data: Ubisoft, 2004
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Those who primarily enjoyed The Sands of Time for its original charm and subtle character development may not find quite what they’re looking for in this sequel.
But even with this caveat, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is easy to recommend for any action-adventure fan, and its lengthier campaign should keep players busy for a lot longer this time around.
#2. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
- Release Data: Ubisoft, 2005
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
Though some new gameplay mechanics have been introduced, such as the speed kill and the new tricks of the Dark Prince, The Two Thrones is still basically very similar to the other two games.
For those who love solving the environmental puzzles and seeing the beautiful environments that the series is known for, The Two Thrones delivers perfectly.
#1. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Release Data: Ubisoft, 2003
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
This reboot of the classic Prince of Persia game upgrades the gameplay to 3D, offering tense platforming and brutal combat.
Playing as the prince, players must battle through various locations, fighting enemies and free-running around the level.
The excellent level design and cool time-control mechanics make for a stylish adventure and an unforgettable journey.
