We already published the list of best GBC games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best GBC puzzle games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the GBC definitely has a great library of puzzle games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the GBC and puzzle games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#5. Ballistic
- Release Data: Mitchell/Infogrames, 1999
- Genre: Puzzle » Action
Ballistic is a nicely-designed puzzle game on the GBC system, but in terms of interface it kind of lacks the flair.
The music is bad, but you can turn that off, and it doesn’t take that much away from the overall feel of the game.
Bust-A-Move is better in design, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make room for Ballistic.
#4. Spy vs Spy
- Release Data: Kemco, 1999
- Genre: Puzzle » Action
The gameplay is still as addictive as ever, although playing against a computer is nowhere near as much fun as taking on a real live human challenger.
Spy Vs. Spy is a fast-paced, comedic strategy title especially suited for the more vindictive of players.
#3. Toki Tori
- Release Data: Two Tribes/Capcom, 2001
- Genre: Puzzle » Action
Toki Tori may seem like some cutesy platformer by the almost artificially sweet happy face on the front of the box, but the game is brutal and challenging, especially in the deeper levels.
And what’s more, it retains that “let me try that again” element, even when the levels get frustratingly hard.
#2. Tetris DX
- Release Data: Nintendo, 1998
- Genre: Puzzle » Stacking
This game was released in 1998 and would be essentially a re-release of the original Game Boy game, Tetris. This is also a launch title for the Game Boy Color.
Overall, it was interesting to see how old games moved to full color on the GBC. This game does set the stage nicely for what could be accomplished on this system.
#1. Pokemon Puzzle Challenge
- Release Data: Intelligent Systems/Nintendo, 2000
- Genre: Puzzle » Matching
The overall design is an amazingly addictive and maniacal puzzle game, and it gives the fingers a serious workout when you fall into the zone.
The game is not as universally addictive as Tetris is, but it’s really close.
Overall, this game is just Tetris Attack combined with Pokemon and in portable mode.
