We already published the list of best GBC games of all time, now it’s time to discover the best GBC action-adventure games of all time.
With amazing titles available, the GBC definitely has a great library of action-adventure games.
So, if you’re a fan of both the GBC and action-adventure games, there’s a chance you’ll like this list.
And some of you may already know some of the games mentioned in this list.
#10. Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
- Release Data: Pocket Studios/Infogrames, 2001
- Genre: Action Adventure » Survival
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare for the GBC is a somewhat pointless but still enjoyable horror adventure.
There’s a little reason for it to exist, and it’s tame and visually nauseating, not to mention banal and unimaginative.
The game isn’t scary, but if you want a ‘horror’ game on the GBC, this is it.
#9. Perfect Dark
- Release Data: Rare Ltd., 2000
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
By focusing so heavily on the tech the developer seem to have sacrificed a lot of what would make it more fun to play.
However, it’s not a bad game by any stretch, and if you forgive its flaws then you might have a pretty good time with it.
#8. Spider-Man
- Release Data: Vicarious Visions/Activision, 2000
- Genre: Action Adventure » General
If you’re looking for some web-slinging action on the go, you can’t go wrong with Spider-Man.
More fully realized than anything on the 8-bit or 16-bit systems, Spider-Man for the GBC is a totally convincing interpretation of Spidey for the handheld sector.
#7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
- Release Data: Griptonite Games/Electronic Arts, 2001
- Genre: Action Adventure » General
A lot of Harry Potter fans will be pleased.
There’s a lot to see and do and the game remains faithful to the book. If you’re not a fan of Harry Potter, this isn’t going to make you one.
Also, there are certainly plenty of elements that can become addictive. Definitely worth a look at if you enjoy Harry Potter.
#6. Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
- Release Data: HotGen/THQ, 2001
- Genre: Action Adventure » Linear
As it stands, it’s just a bit stuck with esoteric puzzles and random battling to achieve the sort of cohesiveness that similar titles, such as Tomb Raider, demonstrate.
Indiana Jones fans will find much to enjoy though, as a number of canonical jokes present will make them chuckle.
#5. Tomb Raider Starring Lara Croft
- Release Data: Core Design Ltd./Eidos Interactive, 2000
- Genre: Action Adventure » General
This excellent adventure takes you to five different environments across fourteen unique levels.
Using Lara’s abilities, you’ll navigate tough obstacles, fight enemies, and make daring leaps.
And thanks to Lara’s extended moveset, you’ll be able to fight with style.
Also, Lara can perform over twenty unique moves, such as rolls, backflips, and more.
#4. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
- Release Data: Nintendo, 1998
- Genre: Action Adventure » Open-World
As Link explores the world, he must solve puzzles and discover eight magical instruments.
He must then take these instruments to the sleeping Wind Fish in an effort to awaken the god-like creature and escape the island.
It’s a distinct Zelda adventure that is unlike any other, and is a must-play for all fans of the series.
#3. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
- Release Data: Flagship/Nintendo, 2001
- Genre: Action Adventure » Open-World
This is a fantastic 2D Legend of Zelda game, with tons of cool items and interesting mechanics.
The main feature in Oracle of Seasons is the ability to change the seasons, using an item called the Rod of Seasons.
If you’ve played A Link to the Past on SNES or Link’s Awakening on the Game Boy Color, you’ll love this game.
#2. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
- Release Data: Flagship/Nintendo, 2001
- Genre: Action Adventure » Open-World
Like Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages plays from a top-down perspective.
Players control Link as he sets out to explore the surrounding map, discovering dungeons and unlocking new abilities.
The main ability is time travel, which Link is able to do thanks to the Harp of Ages.
In the end, this is considered as the best Zelda game on the GBC.
#1. Metal Gear Solid
- Release Data: TOSE/Konami, 2000
- Genre: Action Adventure » General
Players must sneak through a variety of environments, using their stealth skills to slip past enemies and obstacles.
There’s also over 180 training missions in the VR Training mode, which is sure to help you master the art of stealth.
This is a game that’s best for the more strategic and cautious player, but your tactics will be greatly rewarded.
