Hey everyone! Today we’re counting down our picks for the best VR racing games that you should check out.
And without further ado, let’s dive right in.
#25. Live for Speed
- Release Date: 2002
- Platform: PC
Before I continue, I have to let you know that not every game on this list is a hardcore sim racing game that focuses on realism. Some are, but some aren’t. In fact, some of them require mods to enable VR mode. So, yeah, some technical knowledge is required to enjoy them.
Anyway, this game is one of the oldest sim racing games that’s still playable today, and the shocking thing is that it supports VR natively! That means development is still going strong, and if you don’t mind the outdated graphics, you should definitely give this one a try.
#24. Assetto Corsa EVO
- Release Date: 2025
- Platform: PC
Now, at the time I’m making this video, this game hasn’t been released yet. But if you’re watching this a few days after it was published, chances are it’s already available as an Early Access title.
Anyway, this is the latest iteration of the infamous Assetto Corsa series, and it will support VR natively. The first game in the series is one of the go-to titles for realistic sim racing, and let’s just hope this one will be great too. So, if you’ve already played this in VR, let me know in the comments!
#23. Galaxy Kart
- Release Date: 2023
- Platform: PC, PS5
Now, this VR kart racing game was released back in 2023, and although it’s not as popular as its rivals, the cool thing about it is that it supports crossplay across different platforms. That gives it more potential than other similar titles.
And I know this isn’t Mario Kart or Crash Team Racing, but seriously—VR and kart racing are a match made in heaven, especially since you can use weapons with your hands now.
Anyway, this game is also available on Meta Quest headsets, so if you’re a Quest player, definitely check this one out!
#22. KartKraft
- Release Date: 2022
- Platform: PC
Okay, I bet you thought this was GoPro footage of someone kart racing in real life. Yeah, I was blown away too when I saw this clip—it looks incredibly realistic.
Anyway, this game, along with another title called Kart Racing Pro, falls into a very specific niche: kart racing simulation. And just so you know, even though the races don’t feel that ‘intense’ since you’re not driving a proper racing car, it’s actually pretty enjoyable.
So, if you’re part of that small community of kart racing fans, definitely check this one out!
#21. RaceRoom Racing Experience
- Release Date: 2013
- Platform: PC
Now, RaceRoom is one of the most popular sim racing games. However, many people have reported that the VR experience isn’t as good as in other sim racers like Automobilista 2 or Assetto Corsa. Granted, those games are on another level, but if you choose to play this one, you’ll need to put in some effort to tweak the settings or maybe even upgrade your rig to make it enjoyable.
But if you manage to get it right, it’s actually a great VR experience. Not the best, but it definitely enhances the immersion—especially if you’re into VR racing.
#20. Le Mans Ultimate
- Release Date: 2024
- Platform: PC
Okay, this one is the new kid on the block, and now with proper VR implementation, it just keeps getting better—despite some drama over the paid DLC. Seriously, all it needs is more tracks, more cars, and some optimization.
And yeah, there are issues—obviously. It’s a new modern game, after all. But it has already earned its place in sim racing—at least among open-minded players, if you catch my drift.
So, if you want the official game of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this one’s a no-brainer.
#19. rFactor 2
- Release Date: 2013
- Platform: PC
Alright, this one is also one of the go-to games for hardcore racing simulation, but like many older titles, you’ll need to tinker with it to achieve optimal performance—especially if your rig isn’t that powerful. Sure, there are plenty of methods and tutorials to help, but it still has its quirks, particularly when racing with a large number of AI opponents.
But if you manage to get smooth performance, the VR mode will massively enhance your experience with this game. And with the addition of mods, well… you can probably guess it’s gonna be great.
#18. Gravel w/ Mods (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2018
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1
Now, most games in this video lean toward simulation, but this one is for those of you who love arcade-style off-road racing. If you played MotorStorm back when you still had your hair, then maybe Gravel could satisfy that craving for intense off-road racing.
Anyway, this game doesn’t support VR natively, which is a shame. But luckily, with a tool called UEVR, you can make almost any game built with Unreal Engine playable in VR mode. And yeah, you’ll need to put in some effort to get it working, but when it does, it’s a blast.
#17. V-Racer Hoverbike
- Release Date: 2018
- Platform: PC
Okay, this one is another hidden gem, especially if you’re into arcade-style VR racing games. I mean, just look at it—it’s a futuristic motorcycle combat racing game wrapped up in a full VR experience. Seriously, how cool is that?
And you know what? You actually have to hold the motion controller like handlebars and lean your body left or right to turn. Basically, it’s like an old-school motorcycle arcade machine—except now, it’s in your mom’s basement with better visuals.
So, if you’re looking for something different, definitely check this one out!
#16. Jetborne Racing
- Release Date: 2021
- Platform: PC
Now, this might be the most unique game in this video—because it’s not even a car or bike racing game. As you can see, it’s a jetfighter racing game where you fly through indoor tracks, race against other jetfighters, and sometimes even have to dodge missiles.
That said, this one falls into a very niche genre, which explains why the community isn’t as big as VTOL VR—a VR air combat game made by the same developer. I mean, not many people are into jet fighter racing, obviously. But if you’re looking for something different, this one’s worth checking out.
#15. Richard Burns Rally w/ Mods
- Release Date: 2004
- Platform: PC
The thing about RBR is that it’s already a great game on flat screens—especially if you tweak it and use mods to maximize the experience. But in VR? It’s on a whole other level, especially if you’re into rally simulation.
And yes, since this is an old game with no official support, everything it can do is pretty much thanks to the active modding community and dedicated sim racers who devote their time and energy to improving it.
So, if you don’t mind outdated graphics and only care about vehicle physics and intense rallying, definitely give this one a try.
#14. GRIP: Combat Racing (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2018
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1, SWITCH
This one is basically a modern take on old-school futuristic racing games like Rollcage or Firebugs—but now, you can experience it in VR. However, I have to warn you—the VR mode in this game isn’t for everyone. And I mean it.
Many players find it nauseating since the vehicle movement isn’t natural at all. You’ll be pulling off stunts that are anything but typical for regular race cars, which might leave your brain struggling to keep up.
So, if you still want to give this game a go, make sure you cover your PC with a plastic sheet.
#13. iRacing
- Release Date: 2008
- Platform: PC
Okay, now we’re stepping into serious sim racing territory with this one. Some of you might already know that this game is designed for those who take sim racing very seriously—since it’s a subscription-based online service where you also have to spend extra to unlock additional content.
However, if you can afford a rig that runs high-resolution VR smoothly, the immersion is on another level with this one. And mark my words—you’ll feel like a pro driver getting paid generously to race in magnificent machines you’d never be able to afford in real life.
#12. Automobilista 2
- Release Date: 2020
- Platform: PC
Yes, I know—the game looks absolutely fantastic, especially if you can afford to play on ultra graphics settings. I mean, just look at it—it almost looks like real life, for god’s sake!
And with this one, VR works right out of the box, so you don’t need to tweak or tinker with settings as much as in other games. It’s basically the perfect game for those who don’t have the time or technical knowledge to mess with mods or external tools.
So, yeah, definitely play this one if you’re looking for something seriously addictive.
#11. F1 24 (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2024
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1
Now, yes, it’s a shame that the VR mode in this game is only available on PC. I mean, it’d be great if it were available on PSVR too. But then again, many people already struggle to get smooth gameplay in this game with a mediocre graphics card—let alone trying to run the game’s VR mode on a PS5.
And just so you know, F1 games aren’t generally well-optimized for VR, so you’ll need a top-of-the-line GPU to run this game smoothly. But still, if you’re a hardcore F1 fan, maybe it’s time to start upgrading your rig.
#10. BallisticNG
- Release Date: 2018
- Platform: PC
Okay, this one is basically Wipeout for PC, complete with the old-school graphics. So yeah, if you’re feeling nostalgic and want to experience a Wipeout game but don’t have a PS5 or PS4, this is your best option.
But like any other futuristic racing game in VR, you’ll most likely feel nauseous at first. This is pretty common since anti-gravity games like this tend to confuse your brain. I mean, we haven’t invented flying cars yet, have we? Especially ones that turn and accelerate like crazy.
So, if you’re interested in this, make sure you have a bucket nearby.
#9. Assetto Corsa Competizione (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2019
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1
This one is a bit of a hit or miss. On one hand, it looks amazing, but on the other, the VR performance isn’t very well-optimized—especially if your PC wasn’t built by NASA. Basically, the game is quite demanding, not just in VR but even on a flat screen. So yeah, you’ll need a good PC and have to tweak some settings to achieve smooth gameplay.
But here’s the thing—it’s actually a great game, even if it’s not perfectly optimized. It’s just not as popular as its predecessor, which is considered legendary in the sim racing community.
#8. EA Sports WRC (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2023
- Platform: PC, PS5, XSX/S
Okay, a lot of people are still sticking with DiRT Rally 2.0 over this one. And honestly, I get it—DiRT Rally games are just amazing and run really well. With this one, though, you’ll need to do a lot of tweaking and fine-tuning with both your PC and headset before you can get smooth gameplay.
But holy hell, just look at this clip. It looks absolutely stunning—especially if you have a PC that costs as much as a medical bill in America.
So, if you’ve got cash burning a hole in your pocket, give this one a shot.
#7. Redout (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2016
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1, SWITCH
Now, this one is another underrated hidden gem, especially if you’re into futuristic anti-gravity racing games like Wipeout—or any of its many ripoffs.
And if you play it with a HOTAS controller, the immersion gets even better. You’ll feel like the main character in some sci-fi movie, trying to win a street race to pay off your debt to a shady loan shark.
And as usual, I have to remind you—this is a fast-paced anti-gravity racing game, so start slow to help yourself adapt. I mean, you don’t want to end up launching your lunch all over your desktop, right?
#6. Project CARS 2 (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2017
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1
Now, this one is also one of the most legendary games in racing simulation history, and it shows in the gameplay.
And just so you know, this game used to be the hot shit—but it was basically killed off by whoever owns the IP, just so they could push the newer, more arcade-like successor, which is Project Cars 3.
However, you can still get it if you’re familiar with a certain fit girl who loves to repack things. Or, maybe you’ll find it on some sites that sell Steam keys—though I can’t guarantee they’re safe.
#5. DiRT Rally 2.0 (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2019
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1
Okay, this game is the go-to choice for realistic stage rally racing simulation—especially for VR players with high-end PCs.
And if you use a proper steering wheel, a high-end VR headset, and—while you’re at it—throw in a racing motion sim platform that costs around eight grand, you’ll feel like you’re actually in a rally car. Except, instead of getting paid, you’ll be spending your hard-earned cash just to experience it.
Seriously, this is the ultimate VR rally sim game, with no real competitors. So, if you’re gonna do it, go all in.
#4. RIDE 5 w/ Mods (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2023
- Platform: PC, PS5, XSX/S
Alright, I know this game doesn’t support VR natively—because let’s be honest, bike sims aren’t exactly mainstream yet, let alone VR-focused bike sims. However, just like Gravel, you can use UEVR to inject yourself into the game and enable a VR mode. It’s not perfect, but if you tweak it properly, you’ll enjoy it—as long as you enjoy the standard flat-screen version too.
Plus, you can use lean-based motion controls, so you can pretend to pull off extreme turns while chilling on your couch. So, yeah, if you’re willing to learn some technical stuff, go for this one.
#3. Assetto Corsa (VR only on PC)
- Release Date: 2014
- Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S, X1
Now, this game is amazing in VR—but if you install a few mods and tweak a few settings, you’ll be blown away by how realistic it can get.
I mean, seriously, just take a look at this clip! Basically, if you were watching this on a hospital TV while getting denied by your health insurance, you’d probably think it was helmet footage of an actual pro racer.
So yeah, if you want a game you can mod and customize to your heart’s content, then this is the one for you.
#2. Wipeout: Omega Collection
- Release Date: 2017
- Platform: PS5, PS4
Before you get too excited, I have to break the bad news first—this game is only available for PSVR1 and not compatible with the PSVR2 headset. But, hey, at least you can still play it on your PS5 with a PSVR1 headset and get better performance. So, there’s that.
So, if you’re a fan of the Wipeout series and want to know what it feels like to pilot one of these futuristic vehicles, then definitely get this one—you won’t regret it. Or maybe you will… depending on whether or not you end up shooting out the cheeseburgers you just ate.
#1. Gran Turismo 7 (VR only on PS5)
- Release Date: 2022
- Platform: PS5, PS4
Now, if you’re a PS5 player—and I mean you only have a PS5 and play only on PS5—then this is the best racing game with VR support for you. Seriously, this is the one game you must buy and play.
And yes, it’s only available for the PSVR2 headset. So, sorry PS4 players—maybe it’s time to save up for a new console.
And if you’re still on the fence about getting this one, then maybe try the demo first—it’s called My First Gran Turismo, and it was just released recently. So yeah, you’ve got nothing to lose with this one.
So, do you agree with our picks?
